Dr. Rick Liftig's Brief Bio
Dr. Rick Liftig has been in practice since 1980. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA in Biology in 1975 and received his DMD (Doctorate of Dental Medicine) from the University of Connecticut in 1979. Dr. Rick is a third generation dentist and practiced with his Dad, Dr. Al Liftig for ten years (hence the moniker Dr. Rick as opposed to Dr. Al).
Dr. Rick is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has earned the prestigious FAGD award from the Academy.
He is very active in the community: President of the Elmwood Business Association, on the Board of Trustees of The Childrens Museum, a member of the Rotary Club of West Hartford and a member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.
Rick and his wife Kathy live in West Hartford and are proud parents of two Conard HS graduates, Kevin and Alyssa. And, he enjoys writing about himself in the third person (thanks, Kevin!)

And, here is what one very nice, anonymous person said about me on Yahoo! Local listings. Honestly, I had nothing to do with this compliment, but I was walking on air for days after I read it:

Does the thought of going to the dentist make your palms sweat? Rather get audited by the IRS? I felt the same way about the spending time in the dentist's chair, avoiding it for years. That has all changed after several visits to Dr. Rick's office. Now I am conflicted about telling others about my good fortune.
When friends wouldn't enthusiastically recommend their dentists, I searched the web for reviews and found few patient based sources. This site had a couple of reviews about Dr Rick which appeared to be both genuine and favorable. (Some reviews for other dentists, written over consecutive days, and in the same style look suspiciously like a self promotion, rather than patient reviews.) So after some consternation, I made an appointment and my dentistry experience began changing immediately. Rather than arrive early and fill out forms on a clipboard in the waiting room, the forms were promptly mailed to me along with a welcome introduction to the office by Dr. Rick. My first visit was disarming, one focused on past history, personal habits, a clinical assessment, the exchange of information, and the formulation of a game plane with Dr. Rick himself. Never have I had a more thorough examination and discourse with a doctor. Dr. Rick, a third generation dentist, is very personable, and more than willing to show you his father's handiwork by turning a micro camera on himself, and confess his weakness for sweets.
In Dr. Rick's waiting room is a photo of the office staff and Dr. Rick's parents, another first in my medical experience. His staff, from office manager Phyllis, to the hygienists have a long working relationship at the office providing insight into the close working environment and Dr. Rick's leadership. The staff is well informed, experienced, and patient oriented.
In the interest of helping others get quality care from a caring staff, I heartily endorse Dr Rick's practice. One friend with whom I consulted, has already switched from their old provider, and has welcomed the change.
(I am not affiliated with Dr. Rick's office, staff, or family in any way, other than being a very satisfied patient) .
